AVOIDING EXORBITANT AIRPORT TAXI FARES
It is only recently that Granada has been a busy airport.
Officially, there are fixed rates for the taxi fares from Granada Airport to Granada. There are now signs up with the official prices.
Here are the official prices for 2017. Tariff 1 is in operation from Monday to Friday (06:00 - 22:00) and Tariff 2 is in operation on Monday to Friday (22:00 - 06:00), Saturday, Sunday and fiestas.

It is not necessary for the taxi driver to set the taxi meter.
These fares include luggage.
Some taxi drivers, however, refuse to follow these established fares and set their own prices.
These can be exorbitant and may be as expensive as 35-40€.
In order to avoid this happening, the Airport has the following recommendations:
Ask the taxi driver BEFORE loading luggage into the taxi how much the fare will cost.
If the taxi driver is not able to say how much the fare will costs, you are perfectly entitled to refuse to accept the first taxi and
go to the second taxi in the queue to ask how much that driver will charge.
Here are some phrases to help you successfully negotiate the fare.
Hola. ¿Cuánto cuesta para ir al centro? (How much does it cost to go to the centre?)
Hola ¿Cuánto cuesta para ir al Albaicín? (How much does it cost to go to the Albaicín?)
Según el aeropuerto, la tarifa fija para ir al centro/Albaicín es 28/32€. (According to the airport, the fixed rate to get to the centre/Albaicín is 28/32€.)
Entonces no me interesa. (Then I am not interested.)
