Good things about accomodation:Really wonderful location under the Alhambra. Close to Plaza Nueva and many dining options around there.
Complaints about accomodation:We thought the accommodation, which appears small, was just right, and suited us. The stairs up to the apartment are steep for people with walking problems.
Good bars and restaurants:We enjoyed all of it
Suggestions:Richard gave a lot of suggestions for dining, walking, local bars, etc. which are a great introduction to Granada.

Good things about accomodation:The accommodation was better than we could have hoped for. The apartment was ideal for two of us for the six nights we spent there. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and Richard went out of his way to be helpful. Though we didn't get to meet Esperanza, her artwork and ceramics around the place added a real touch of class. The views were lovely, the little courtyard cool and beautiful, and the location, close to the Alhambra and Plaza Nueva, couldn't have been better. Loved it.
Complaints about accomodation:None at all.
Good bars and restaurants:The Sacromonte Caves Museum was fascinating and well-kept with friendly staff, and in a beautiful location. Also, the little museum in the composer Manuel de Falla's old home; and for a quiet, secluded walk amongst trees and pools try Los Martires nearby. The Generalife by night was wonderful, especially as we had a full moon! The Teterias in the North African quarter, where you can choose from dozens of teas and try their cuisine. For self-caterers like ourselves, the indoor market near the Cathedral has excellent local fruit, vegetables, cheeses, olives, fish, seafood, cold meats...
Bad experiences in Granada:We got lost in the Albaicin late in the evening and were glad to find our way out again as a lot of what look like streets on the map are more like alleys - very deserted and we felt a bit too conspicuous. It's a lovely old area but a warren.
Suggestions:Many of the old streets are narrow, winding, cobbled, and steep. Wear sensible footwear and be prepared to use your legs.

Good things about accomodation:I found the accommodation to be charming, clean and well equipped with a lovely view from the living room balcony. It was in an excellent location for sightseeing in the city and visiting the Alhambra. It was up a fairly steep road with many steps from the road to the property so it might not be suitable for some visitors.
Suggestions:Buy tickets for the Alhambra in advance of your visit as you may well not manage to get tickets at the ticket office on the day.

Good things about accomodation:I stayed a month and I would certainly stay here again if I return to Granada in the future. The location was fantastic just below the Alhambra and within walking distance of everything i wanted to see and do.
Complaints about accomodation:The apartment was great close to all the best attractions in Granada. Need more channels for the TV, watching the BBC News (repetative at best) and German language programmes not that interesting. No Spanish TV channels available.
Good bars and restaurants:I would recommend that everyone spend at least one day exploring the Albycin.

Good things about accomodation:Alcoba B apartment is a little gem close to the entrance to the Alhambra forest. It has a simple and rustic style, but we knew that. I loved staying in the house containing the apartment. Very atmospheric.
Good bars and restaurants:My eldery parents were reluctant to step out to the steep roads once they are back to the apartment. So I enjoyed grocery shopping strolling around the Albicin. By the way, we were amazed at the mists injected from the parasols in the alfresco restaurants and cafes - we've never seen such a thing!

Complaints about accomodation:None. The apartment was sufficient for our needs.
Good bars and restaurants:Loved Granada. You could almost eat for free here! Every bar gives you free Tapas.
Bad experiences in Granada:Buying tickets for the Alhambra was not straightforward. But it is definitely best to book them well in advance before you go. There are long queues if you haven't got tickets and you may not get in.
Suggestions:Granada is quite hilly too, so be prepared with good, comfortable walking shoes!

Good things about accomodation:We thought the apartment was in a fanatastic location both for the Alhambra (100 metres from one of the gates) and for wandering through the other picturesque areas of Granada. Richard was extremely helpful in showing us on a map where all the necessities of life were to be found - supermarkets, good tapas bars etc etc!
Good bars and restaurants:El Seco in Reyes Catolicos (for fish) recommended by Richard. Bodegas Castaneda in Almireceros and any of the bar / cafes in Plaza de la Romillera.
Suggestions:We thought the 9.30 entry for the Alhambra worked well. You need to make sure you book well ahead if possible.

Good things about accomodation:The owners Richard and Esperanza were very pleasent and helpful. Their apartment was beautiful, clean and quiet. The location could not have been better for us. It was near everything we wanted to see. I'll be back to spend more time in Granada.
Complaints about accomodation:None, the apartment was perfect.
Good bars and restaurants:Take the red tour bus route through the Albyzin, and stop near St Nicolas. Hike up the street and find a door on the left. There is a restaurant that over looks the Alhambra across the canyon that is breath taking in the evening.
Bad experiences in Granada:Not at all. We felt very safe. Some shop and restaurant owners were a bit impatient or put off if you couldn't speak proper Spanish, but that is understandable... Most vendors were very helpful and kind.
Suggestions:It is helpful to get your Alhambra tickets ahead of time online or in town before heading up to the site or you'll stand in line for quite a while.

Room or apartment: Alcoba B
Good things about accomodation:Although I'd reserved apartment B, there was a last minute cancelation, so I was able to stay in A, instead. It was completely lovely. No complaints whatsoever. Richard and Esperanza are very nice and they helped me out when Iberia lost my suitcase for a couple of days, and when I needed assistance reserving a cab for a very early morning departure. The location couldn't be better - so easy to get to the Alhambra, Sacromonte, Plaza Nueva, etc. Grocery stores within easy walking distance. Corte Ingles (for the higher-end groceries) a bit of a hike, but definitely doable. I was taking classes at Carmen de las Cuevas, and it was fairly easy to come home for lunch and a quick nap between classes. I felt completely safe coming home by myself late at night. Comfortable bed, good shower, good wifi connection (out on the patio).
Good bars and restaurants:Since there's not a lot of good information out there about being a vegan in Spain, I just want to say that there is a pretty good vegan and gluten-free section in the basement grocery store of Corte Ingles (near the check-outs). I was able to find seitan, soy milk, tofu pate and plenty of other good stuff to keep me full and happy. For vegans staying in Granada longer than a couple of days, an apartment with a kitchen is the only way to go. Otherwise, it's going to be nothing but ensalada mixta for days on end!

Good things about accomodation:It was great to be high up in the city with great ventilation and a charming little garden.
Complaints about accomodation:The Apt. was great; it was a little more intimately connected with the owner's household than we had anticipated. One felt the lack of sound privacy a bit.

Good things about accomodation:Perfect time to visit. Richard could not have been more helpful and welcoming and gave us lots of really good ideas of what to do and see and helped us with travel arrangements.
Complaints about accomodation:Really peaceful and comfortable.
Good bars and restaurants:We particularly liked the restaurants in Campo Principe. As well as fascinating visits to the Alhambra and other amazing buildings we had two days walking in the hills following the ancient watercourse which feeds the Alhambra. Wonderful flowers, views and quite challenging - we were glad to have our boots and trek poles with us! We enjoyed really excellent flaminco near the Pte Cabra - again revomended by Richard.
Bad experiences in Granada:We spent a pleasant afternoon with a picnic in the beautiful public gardens at Carmen de los Martires watching the peacocks and wandering. We tried to leave at about 4pm and found that we were locked in! Tried unsuccesfully to climb out and were eventially released at 6pm by which time a worried visitor on the far side of the locked gate had called the police! We had not expected a municiple garden to shut for siesta time!
Suggestions:Good foot wear essential. We managed to get tickets for a second Alhambra visit by getting to the ticket office at 7am!

Good things about accomodation:We love the Location of the Alcoba as it is close to the Alhambra and the heart of the city. It was also refreshing to come back to the cool Arpt. after a hot day of exploring the city.
Good bars and restaurants:Granada is a wonderfull clean city with everything within walking distance or by bus. The restaurants we visited were all excelent and very accomodating. We found we enjoyed the wines from the Rioja. The Alhambra Roses were in full blume and the fragerence & colors exquisite.

Complaints about accomodation:The only complaint I have is that the wi-fi was sketchy; one time I had to go outside the apartment to catch it.
Good bars and restaurants:We saw a good flamenco show at Le Chien Andalou and we loved all the tapas bars that serve free tapas with each drink.

Room or apartment: Alcoba A
Good things about accomodation:I really liked that the Alcoba Apartments were practically at the entrance of the Alhambra. It was the only truly 'green space' I saw in Granada. A quiet early morning walk up to the Alhambra was a true delight. The apartment itself was very well decorated and had a lovely patio with heavenly wisteria blooming. Richard was very friendly and helpful in orienting us and allowing us to use his computer to purchase bus tickets online.
Complaints about accomodation:We were unaware that we would need to bring our own personal soaps for the bath. The shower had a slow drain but that was fixed after being noted. The shower head was very poor so bathing was one of those 'adventures ' that can appear on any trip.
Good bars and restaurants:We especially liked the Bib Rambla, the open air market and the part of town near the Cathedral. The Cathedral was magnificent. We especially enjoyed the churros and chocolate at the Bib Rambla.
Bad experiences in Granada:
Granadainfo comments:If there is a problem with something such as the shower head just mention it to Richard and he will buy a new one.

Good things about accomodation:We thought the Alcoba apartments were in a great location, just down the hill from the Alhambra and close to Plaza Nueva. Richard was especially helpful in giving us tips for navigating around the city and fun things to do. And the atmosphere was quite homey.
Complaints about accomodation:We had no complaints, everything was just as described on the site and well kept. The only thing (which the apartment owners have absolutely no control over) is that there was a lot of dog poop to avoid in the alleyway leading from Cuesta Gomerez to the apartment.
Good bars and restaurants:We liked Bodegas Castaneda (the old one on calle Almireceros, which Richard recommended) and we also enjoyed sitting for drinks and fish at Bar Kiki near the Mirador San Nicolas.
Bad experiences in Granada:Everyone will tell you this already, but do reserve your visit to the Alhambra at least a couple of weeks ahead of time and choose your ticket option carefully--if you want to see the Nasrid palaces, the Alcazaba and the Generalife gardens, you probably want the General Daytime Visit ticket. We reserved the wrong tickets--again, Richard was so helpful in clarifying, and advising us to try to see if we could get the limited-same-day tickets as the online ticketing was sold out. We went up to the Alhambra offices at around 7:15 am to wait in line. At that point there were about 200 people in line already, but we got tickets for a 12:30 entrance. Book ahead.

Room or apartment: Alcoba A
Good things about accomodation:Warm weather and central position of accommodation.Friendly owners. Quiet but convenient access to centre and tourist sites. Ideal for a few days stay to explore Granada. Most places within walking distance.
Complaints about accomodation:The television is in the bedroom which is probably alright in the summer with long evenings but it would have been better for us at this time of year to have been able to watch it in the living room. It was mainly German programmes so we were limited anyway in what we could watch. It was not important enough to ask the owners who were on the spot and very friendly and helpful.
Suggestions:Your advice about visiting the Alhambra was very good and we booked a slot at 11.30 and were there all day which meant we could appreciate it to the full. We were able to walk up the afternoon before and collect our tickets and discover we could enter by the Justice gate which halved the walk the next morning!

Good things about accomodation:The cozy little apartment is quite comfortable for a couple. Everything is clean and in working order; the kitchen is well-equipped. Original artwork on the walls and in the patio. The location, off of the street leading up to the Alhambra is ideal for tourists and is quiet. Richard was very helpful making suggestions for restaurants and activities. We felt at home in the apartment.
Complaints about accomodation:Wifi was difficult to access (long password) and signal was weak although access was OK.
Good bars and restaurants:We enjoyed our meal at Mirador de Morayma overlooking the Alhambra in the Albaicin. As for the Alhambra, we spent 7 hours there and did not see everything we wanted to see. Go early, before your scheduled time to enter the palacio Nazaries, in order to check out the other parts of the Alhambra.
Suggestions:Granada is a great city to visit. We were there only 3 nights and felt that it was not enough.

Complaints about accomodation:We loved our 2 week stay in the apartment and had a wonderful time in Granada.
Good bars and restaurants:We liked the Realejo area - in particular the bars and restaurants in Campo Principe. We also had a great meal overlooking the Alhambra at Estrella San Nicholas. A bar with wonderful flamenco - El Sur de Granada - at the end of Calle Elvira.
Suggestions:Get away from the tourist areas - avoid Plaza Nueva. Find the authentic flamenco. Talk to people who live there.

Good things about accomodation:Good things in the accomodation: Very friendly english-speaking owner, "patio" where you can have breakfast, Wireless LAN, central in Granada, close to the Alhambra & to the Plaza Nueva.
Complaints about accomodation:Car parking for free was not possible in the surrouding of the accomodation.
Good bars and restaurants:The museo de las cuevas on Sacromonte was also a nice place, with a very friendly person who welcame us at the entrance.
Bad experiences in Granada:Animal excrements on the pavements
Suggestions:We were a little disappointed by the night visit of the Alhambra. The place is beautiful, but for the same price as for a day visit (also 12€) you cannot visit the Generalife. Furthermore you do not (cannot) get any information about the history or the building (an audio guide as it is provided during the day visit is not available for night visits). A combination ticket "day & night visit" would also be a good thing.
