Good things about accomodation:the accommadation was comfortable and its location was perfect for our needs.it was very easy to get around the town and buses were frequent.taxis were also reasonable.
Complaints about accomodation:No - a very enjoyable stay
Bad experiences in Granada:the bus back nto malaga (the 10.00 hrs )on the 25th of jan did not leave the estacion until 10.30 , thus making us miss our flight and causing us extra expense purchasing easy jet tickets back to the uk.
Suggestions:if you dont know much spanish , make sure you check your entry ticket to alhambra, the time circled in pen is the only time you can visit the nasrid palaces.we did not realise and had to purchase second tickets so we did not miss this beautiful place

Good things about accomodation:The driving instructions, car park and meeting point for the caves all worked. The accomodation was excellent the lady who met us a delight and Granada is a great place to visit for a few days.
Good bars and restaurants:The accomodation was charming, cool during the heat of the summer, Meknes Rhama restauarant was brilliant (no booze but when the food is this good who needs it)? The Sacromonte district charming.
Bad experiences in Granada:No bad experiences, and a few unexpected processions with bands, horses, uniforms, serenades from guitarists while having a relaxing drink in cafes, well worth a visit.
Suggestions:When visiting the Alahmbra allow time to arrive at and enter the palaces at your allotted time. (We were a bit late and missed our slot due to queues and confusing signs at the main entry point). This happened to many other visitors but we discovered that it is possible to buy another ticket for another time later in the day back at the main gate for around 10 euros for 4 people. This information was not obvious I thought I was going to have to pay for another 4 full price tickets. It is well worth a few extra euros if this happens to you.

Good things about accomodation:As above, stay in Cave house was great!! The Albaicin area was fascinating... all the tiny streets and houses! Loads to see within walking distance and fabulous eating places!!
Complaints about accomodation:No complaints- Cave house was lovely, cool and clean and tidy!!Only suggestion would be that a welcome pack.. tea, milk etc. would have been an added bonus!
Good bars and restaurants:The Alhambra was the highlight of our visit!!Beautiful with stunning views!!
Great restaurants within walking distance of Cave house... especially liked Mirador de San Nicholas square!!(sorry cant remember name of restaurant).
Bad experiences in Granada:None at all!!
Locals selling heather near Cathedral were a bit intimidating!
Suggestions:Loved Granada and will recommend VEREA CAVES to our friends!!Excellent location and no problems with Gypsies as we had been warned in Guide book.
Granadainfo comments:p>Note: It is quite hard to buy good tea in Spain. It is best to bring a few tea bags with you. The only place that sells good English type tea is Mercadona supermarket. They do Tetleys teabags. The bar at San Nicolas is called Bar Kiki. I made a web page about the " heather near Cathedral" phenomenon click here to see it

Good things about accomodation:It took us some time how to figure out the parking system but once that was figured out, it was smooth. The place is right at the heart of the flamenco caves with such an excellent view to the alahambra a few steps down the apartment. Granada is simply incredible, and I would defintely visit it again in the near future.
Complaints about accomodation:As it was August it was a bit too hot sometimes..
Good bars and restaurants:Granada 10 is a good disco... habana is great if you like latin music and salsa dancing.. but even the small bars and clubs have character and filled with friendly people...so just go out and enjoy the night... just remember that some of the clubs can be quite empty before 2am :-)

Good things about accomodation:The view from the Sacromonte on the Alhambra is marvellous and the caves are quite nice too.
Good bars and restaurants:There are a few nice tapas bars: La bella y la bestia is on the way from the caves to the Plaza Nueva. And on a street crossing Calle Elvira from the left, there is also a very authentic and really crowded tapas bar which is probably the most genuine we have seen in Andalusia.
The Arabian baths (banos arabos) are a nice activity to relax after seeing all the sights.

Good things about accomodation:Although the location is way up in the Sacromonte Hills and had lots of steep cobble stone stairs, the view was priceless
Good bars and restaurants:Just behind Plaza Nueva amongst the narrow streets of Moroccan shops, there is a small Arabic pastry shop with wonderful baklava and mint tea. After trying lots of churros bars in Andalucia, Cafe Futball still has it best, it's in Plaza Mariana Pineda. We enjoyed the Arabic bath at Hamman, right at the bottom of Alhambra, on the same street as the tourist info office in Plaza Nueva.
Bad experiences in Granada:Alhambra minibus is convenient, but it does not run late (last bus around 11pm).
Suggestions:Wear comfortable shoes, there are lots of walking and climbing because the terrain are full of hills.

Good things about accomodation:It was really cozy in Verea Cave 4 and I really enjoyed my stay. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful yet within close proximity to the main part of town. Esperanza was very welcoming.
Complaints about accomodation:Both showers were not fully functioning.
Good bars and restaurants:Granada was great, especially the Al hambra, but that goes without saying.
Suggestions:I would also like to thank John and Sarah for their helpfulness.
Granadainfo comments:The extra shower in the cubicle is not supposed to be used. To conform to regulations it was necesary to install a shower which can be used with a wheelchair although it is impossible to get to the caves in a wheelchair. Please ignore the second shower.

Good things about accomodation:It was really interesting being able to stay in an actual cave dwelling in Sacromonte away from the crowded 'touristy' bits, and where there was a thriving local community. The view up the valley from the top of the lane was gorgeous, and the view by day or night of the Alhambra from the bottom of the lane couldn't be bettered. The general area was clean and felt safe to walk around at night. We were expecting the caves to be a bit primitive but they had all the facilities of an ordinary apartment. Except windows:-)
Good bars and restaurants:Visiting the Alhambra and Generalife is a must and worth spending a whole day on.
We really enjoyed our soak in the Hammam (Turkish Baths), Calle de Santa Anna 16, below the Alhambra - beautiful arabic tiling, low level lighting and soothing arabic music.
The Centro de Interpretacion de Sacromonte/gitano cultural museum is worth a (short) visit, and the bar nearest to the caves (by the drop off point, next door to the disco) was very welcoming and had an authentic flamenco singer and guitarist, popular with the locals, after 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays (space very limited as bar itself is a cave, get there early for seats).
Bad experiences in Granada:Eating out was a mixed experience. The bar above was very good for tapas/snacks. A restaurant in a 'touristy' square in the Albacin brought out cold food after a long wait. We ate it but 2 of our group became poorly later on. In contrast a North African teahouse in the Calle Caldereria Nueva was both speedy and good quality. The Morrocan restaurant at the corner of the Camino del Sacromonte & Cuesta del Chapiz did excellent starters & main courses, but had obviously run down its stock of dessert materials and drinks, serving up strange alternatives with a tenuous connection to the menu descriptions. However this did provide extra entertainment with good humoured 2 way banter and micky taking in pigin Spanish.
Suggestions:The main cathedral is very impressive from the outside but disappointing (cold and intimidating) on the inside. Does not compare in any way to the Alhambra.

Suggestions:not suitable for buggies or the disabled

Good things about accomodation:The cave is roomy and nice, definitely different from any other place we stayed at in Spain. Walking through Albaycin is great -- we probably wouldn't get there had we stayed elsewhere. And taking the bus there is an experience in creative driving!
Complaints about accomodation:The cave was surprisingly airy, but still the inner room had a slight cave smell. A related obvious problem is that there is no light coming in in the morning, so it's easy to oversleep.
Good bars and restaurants:The Moroccan restaurant at the corner of Sacromonte was very nice, even for our son who is vegetarian.
Suggestions:There are quite a few steps going up the alley from the road, so be ready to carry your luggage. And if you use the Ochoa car park, it is indeed crucial not to miss the kiosk; we did, and it took half an hour to get back. Hint: the main road veers slightly to the left just before the kiosk, which is actually on a smaller road that continues straight ahead.

Good things about accomodation:The cave was lovely, warm and cozy, had everything we wanted for our stay. Situation is great as Sacremonte is a very nice area to wander around, and it is just a short (15-20 min) walk to the Alhambra. The cave is much more cost effective than staying in a hotel, with the advantage of being an authentic and different local dwelling place.
Complaints about accomodation:None at all
Good bars and restaurants:Pibe bar, on road just below cave had best meal we had over a weekend.
Suggestions:Go to Alhambra as early as you can to avoid the crowds, prebook tickets and have the place to yourself for a while!

Good things about accomodation:It was very nice to be able to walk to downtown Granada within 15 minutes. There was also a bus that takes you directly to the Alhambra or downtown Granada for 1.10 Euro's each at the bottom of the hill.
The directions were perfect and the parking garage was easy to find.
I felt safe in the neighborhood and everyone had a smile on their face. It was a wonderful couple of days that my family will never forget. Thanks for the memories!
Good bars and restaurants:If you visit Granada, the Alhambra is a must see. We also visited the historic part of Granada and the Sierra Nevada, which is about 30 minutes away. While doing some window shopping we stopped for Pizza Hut which was a big deal to my kids.

Good things about accomodation:Accomadation was small but cosy and was a different experience staying in a cave to staying in hotel. would highly recommend this cave highly. location was great 10 minutes walk from all bars, shops etc. close to buses. all round great holiday.
Good bars and restaurants:most nights went to local pubs / restuarants. most pubs have tapas so dont really need to eat out to much. people very freindly.
Suggestions:try to use public transport, very relaible and alot cheaper than taxis.

Good things about accomodation:Granada itself, especially the area around the cave, was beautiful, with a really laid-back and relaxed atmosphere (though I imagine in the height of summer when it's full of tourists it can feel rather different!)
Good bars and restaurants:A bar called Cafe au Lait (French name but Spanish food) was brilliant - reasonably priced, tasty food and great atmosphere.
Suggestions:Learn a bit of Spanish before you go! I made the mistake of thinking that the Spanish I learnt four years ago on my last trip to Spain would still be enough despite not having practised it in all that time, but it really wasn't, and I had a few embarrassing moments while I struggled to find what I wanted to say in my phrase book.

Good things about accomodation:Esperenza was very warm and welcoming, even though we spoke only a little Spanish and she spoke little English.
Good bars and restaurants:The street side cafe on the Camino de Sacromonte, just near El Camborio discoteque was very good, with a perfect view of the setting sun over the Alhambra.
Mirador de Moriyma in the Albayzin, near the beginning of the Camino de Sacromonte, was a lovely restuarant, quite expensive but very fantastic food - the home made banana ice cream was divine.
Arrayanes, Moroccan restuarant, off the teas shop lane which comes off Calle Elvira, was good food and the owner was very fun, a real character.

Good things about accomodation:It was such a unique experience. And I loved the deep darkness to sleep in. As an architect and philosopher, we were fascinated by the shapes and innovations of the space and its character.
Complaints about accomodation:Everything was wonderful. Only the following (maybe): furnish small simple fragrance tealight candles ... I think this would be a pleasant fragrance and maybe offer a selection of fragrances for the guests to choose from.
Good bars and restaurants:La Cueva was stunning for tapas and all sorts of meats. The Rabo de Toro was a revelation and the service friendly. Of course, the Alhambra was beyond description. We also went to La Traranta for Flamenco. It was a fantastic treat to be so close to the dancers and to experience the vibe there. And we went to the Kasbah in the Albaizin market and had a fantastic lunch ... Middle Easter cuisine.

Good things about accomodation:Simply walking around Granada was fantastic. There are so many little streets and things to see, places to stop for a drink, gorgeous views and so on.
Complaints about accomodation:I loved staying in the caves and also found the area and location ideal. The only suggestion that I'd have to make things perfect would be a little welcome pack containing the essentials for a hot drink / bite to eat. This would have made the first evening / morning even more enjoyable :-)
Good bars and restaurants:We loved a restaurant called LAS CUEVAS, the tapas (served with every drink) was fresh and tasty, the Sangria was beautiful and served in massive glasses and the staff were wonderful warm and friendly.
Bad experiences in Granada:On the contrary, my partner forgot his bag in one of the numerous tapas places we enjoyed and the following day as we went from place to place looking for it we found every one very helpful and sympathetic. And the good news is we found it!

Good things about accomodation:I stayed here over the christmas period and had a lovely stay. Its self catering so there is no hotel service but thats what we liked, we felt as though it was ours for our stay. The rooms had a very spanish feel and very comfortable and cosy. The shower was great, nice and hot and good pressure. I was surprised as the caves seem so old! The kitchen is small but had everything we needed to make a little tapas spread before we walked down into Granada City for a night out. A perfect location as you really feel you are in the real old part of Granada. There are also beautiful views of the Alhambra from right outside the door which was lovely to wake up to and see at night, as its all lit up of an evening. Definitely worth a visit! The roads are cobbled around there so be careful in heels and bring some slippers as the floor is marble/tile so gets a bit cold in the morning or after a shower. A really lovely find and a bargain too, would definitely go back again!

Good things about accomodation:The Verea Caves (we stayed in cave 3) were in an absolutely wonderful location & very well furnished with everything we needed. The circular bus route passes very close-by so it was no problem to walk / catch the bus anywhere in Granada. We particularly enjoyed woualking 2 mins out of the cave & have a spectacular view of the Alhambra.
Complaints about accomodation:This is not a complaint at all but visitors should be aware that there are steps leading to the caves, not suitable for wheelchai / elderly etc. This is pasrt of the charm of the Sacromonte area but Granaga is not suitable for anyone less mobile.
Good bars and restaurants:We found the most delicious food to be enjoyed at the cafe/bar on the Camino del Sacromonte (basically go down the steps from the caves, turn left & you are there in 10m)- fantastic view of the alhambra while you eat. We also really enjoyed our visit to the Banos Hammam for 2 hours - blissful! You need to book in advance though.
Suggestions:The airport - city circular bus is just as fast as a taxi but 1/10 of the price.
bring comfortable shoes because this is a place for walking & exploring - ladies, heels would be very difficult!
There is a small mini-supermarket very close to the caves where you can get all the essentials.

Complaints about accomodation:The water drains from the shower pan slowly and starts to fill the shower pan..
Bad experiences in Granada:Not at all. Flamenco shows are a bit expensive, but you are there to see them anyway so I was expecting that.
Otherwise everything was extremely positive.
Suggestions:You can see everything in Granada in 3 days, but if you give yourself a day extra you can do it in the relaxed fashion. And be sure to take a walk everywhere. You never know what surprise is behind the corner in Granada.
