Good things about accomodation:My husband and I rented this apartment in July, 2007 for 1 week. Located in the Albacin district across the ravine from the great Alhambra, Richard\'s studio apartment should be viewed as a treasure for those visiting Granada in southern Spain. The apartment is very reasonably priced, clean and cozy. Owners Richard and Pillar, both professionals, are very gracious and attentive to your needs. Not far from the apartment is an inexpensive microbus that shuttles you down the hill through the central part of Granada and on to the base of the Alhambra where you can catch a connecting microbus to this incredible 13th century fortress.
Good bars and restaurants:Within walking distance from the apartment are some wonderful restaurants. Ladrillo II was our favorite. A few blocks up the hill from there is the Mirador de San Nicolas which offers a spectacular view of the Alhambra. Best time to go is in the evening to see the Alhambra lit up against the back drop of the Sierra Nevadas. In the opposite direction from the Mirador is the Sacramonte, a district known for its gypsy caves and flamenco dancing.

Good things about accomodation:The studio is quiet, next to El Mirador for a lovely view anytime we wanted, and next to (frequent) bus stop. Great location if you want to experience El Albaycin! (Also, the wi-fi was excellent.)
Complaints about accomodation:No complaints! (Well, if, when taking a shower, the water can be contained somehow, that would be great. The water got all over the floor and into the kitchen. Not sure if there is a solution but the shower was great. Nice hot water anytime! Also, if the towels can be upgraded just a little bit, that would be nice.
Good bars and restaurants:You can walk to Sacromonte in a few minutes. No need for the bus or taxi. If you did not get tickets beforehand for the Alhambra (tisk, tisk), get there when they open at 8am. They hold some tickets for the each day. It's your only hope and very worthwhile.
Bad experiences in Granada:No. My only complain was that it was hard to leave!

Good things about accomodation:I loved my two weeks in Granada at Richard`s apartament, above all for the respect that Richard and Pilar have for their guests`privacy, although they`re always there giving you some help or any advise if needed. In the heart of the Albaicin, it`s like entering a dream, where life is sweeter, far from big cities`madness, with Flamenco everywhere and the view from san Nicolas that is something incredible, hypnotic. I often went to the Plaza Larga(just 5 minutes walking) to taste the atmosphere and to hear the happy vendors` voice at the square market in the morning. But there`s always something to discover in Granada. I`ll be back soon!
Complaints about accomodation:Thee`s no hook or stand for towels in the bathroom
Good bars and restaurants:Go to Essauira bar, just off Calle Elvira, to catch incredible spontaneous flamenco improvisations till 4 in the morning. Unforgettable.

Good things about accomodation:The flat has everything two people require for a visit including WiFi. It is only a 2 minute walk from a fabulous view of the Alhambra from the Mirador. Very frequent and reliable bus service to the centre.
Complaints about accomodation:We were very happy with the accomodation - we had everything we needed - Richard made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived.
Good bars and restaurants:We had a lovely meal in the adjacent restaurant, Aben Humeya. Very genial host and amazing setting.
Bad experiences in Granada:None at all - people were very friendly and helpful.
Suggestions:If travelling from Malaga by bus allow plenty of time to buy your tickets - there were long queues at Malaga bus station ! Make sure you have comfy footwear as most of the streets in the area are cobbled.
Granadainfo comments:You can also buy bus tickets at alsa.es

Good things about accomodation:We liked our hosts who were very helpful but not intrusive;they gave us lots of useful tips and practical help with early morning taxis etc; we liked how accessible the Albaicin was - that bus service is a gem, amazing and deserves great credit as a public service.
Complaints about accomodation:None
Good bars and restaurants:Throughout we met friendly but never pushy service- people who were doing business but prepared to give time and consideration; at the renfe we met an exceptional ticket sales person who told us about our right to a travel discount as pensionners and made all the necessary arrangements; our visit to the Alhambra (the prime purpose of our journey to Granada) was not disappointing - this has to be the most unique palace in Europe; magnificent. However tourists beware - every tourist souvenir which we bout there could have been bought at half the price in the town, had we waited! Again thanks to the little red bus from the Albaicin!

Good things about accomodation:Richards apartment is a very cozy apartment, and the best things is that it very close to bus stop and only a few steps from Mirador San Nicolas, with its fantastic view to Alhambra, furthermore there are some nice restaurant and cafés nearby. We found people very friendly and admired the efforts to keep the city clean, any time one could see people clean up around the streets. But it is a pity with all the grafitti you could see on the buildings.
Good bars and restaurants:Two good restaurants in Albayzin, but not cheap: Las Estrellas, Mirador San Nicolas, nice restaurant, good food, very friendly staff and a fantastic view to Alhambra from the second floor. Aben Humeya, Cuesta de Tomasas (a few steps from Richards’s apartment. Also with view to Alhambra and a very beautiful Carmen (Arabic garden)
Suggestions:The local busses are very cheap and gives lots of opportunities to make daytrips out from Granada. We can recommend a trip to Guejar Sierra , a nice little village, where there are several possibilities for a walk in the mountains (Sierra Nevada), You can get a brochure from the shop in La Cabrera street, above Plaza Mayor. We had some troubles finding the markings of the paths, and this could surely be improved. After finishing the walks, a visit to "Bar Poli", also in La Cabrera can be recommended, Cozy interior, very friendly staff and a very good Tapas dish (fried Mushrooms in oil)

Good things about accomodation:Too much to say. This was a return visit for me, first time for my girlfriend. Just soaking up the sun, devouring tapa's, wondering the streets of the Albaicin and the lower city and discovering some of the 'outer' districts was wonderful.
Complaints about accomodation:No complaints, is a lovely little apartment with a great location. Would suggest a 'short stay' price though for those staying less than the full week. Iron + ironing board would have been useful too.
Good bars and restaurants:Obvious recommendation's are the Alhambra and just getting lost in the Albaicin! The Cartuja was well worth the visit.
Granadainfo comments:If you want an ironing board just ask Richard for one.

Good things about accomodation:Apartment well-equipped, clean and made the most of a small space. Good spot at the top of the Albaicin: no view from the flat but it's only up the steps.
Bad experiences in Granada:No real problems but watch out for the tax on food.
Granadainfo comments:If it says "IVA no incluido" in a restaurant it means that the prices don't include 7% tax. It is to make you think it is cheaper before you order. Not including tax on prices is sneaky and devious but quite common unfortunately. Hotels do this also.
