Good things about accomodation:It's prefect - the location, the stunning view, the cosiness and space. We were so pleased to spend the first week of our honeymoon here.
Good bars and restaurants:For vegetarians: Mi Mexico, Bar De los Buenos Chicos - not included in most vegetarian guides to the city, but both do vegetarian food.

Good things about accomodation:The views of the Alhambra from the apartment were stunning - the wow factor in triplicate. The apartment was lovely and warm throughout our stay and hot water in abundance. Kitchen very well equipped - so many helpful books on Granada and the surrounding countryside were to be found in the sitting room
Complaints about accomodation:The accommodation was excellent and Ignacio and his wife were so very very helpful. They made us feel at home straight away and Ignacio even walked us up to the school (were we were going to study Spanish ) to show us the way
Good bars and restaurants:We mostly ate in but Ignacio did recommend several that we liked the look of and have every intention of going back to try
Bad experiences in Granada:No bad experiences - we found everybody very helpful and friendly - taxi appeared when they said they would and not expensive

Good things about accomodation:Loved apartment. Everyone from taxi driver to waiters friendly and helpful.
Complaints about accomodation:No. Just an excellent apartment, with charming owner's.
Good bars and restaurants:Los Manueles, near main plaza, kept giving us nice food when getting drinks. Tapas style.
Bad experiences in Granada:Changed Alambra time at last minute (getyourguide), and then sent email confirming original time confusing. Luckily had email?
Suggestions:No. 11 out of 10.

Good things about accomodation:I really loved this place and I will be looking to stay again!
Complaints about accomodation:It was a little cold even with all the heaters on, but this did not ruin my stay.
Good bars and restaurants:Great tapas and paellas nearby! I wanted to try Bodega Los Tintos, but we got there too late! Show up at 8:30 as soon as it opens!!!
Bad experiences in Granada:I had no problems in Granada except having to avoid walking in dog poo and carrying luggage up to the apartment, but I'm just being unnecessarily picky right now. This was a wonderful place. I would love to visit in the summertime!!!
Suggestions:There is a lot of walking but this place is just wonderful!

Good things about accomodation:The Mejorana apartment exceeded our expectations. It was a wonderful place to stay to explore the many great attractions and experience the culture of classical Spain.
Good bars and restaurants:The Alhambra is a 'must see' but you must book well in advance to avoid being disappointed. Sultan's Palace Moroccan Restaurant was very good but there are many excellent places to eat. The guitarists at the Albaicin Square are wonderful to see and hear. Fantastic view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Alhambra from there.
Bad experiences in Granada:No, everything was very good and the people were very helpful and friendly.
Suggestions:Wear comfortable shoes or trainers because the streets are cobbled and the stones can be uneven and slippery in places. Airport buses are reliable and cheap; only about 40-45 minutes journey time.

Good things about accomodation:Really pleased with the accommodation and the people of Granada could not be more helpful. Quite rare in a busy tourist destination. Ignacio, our host, was very helpful and made us feel welcome.
Good bars and restaurants:Trillo restaurant 100m behind apartment was most agreeable for quality of food and service.
Bad experiences in Granada:Quite the opposite.
Suggestions:Stay as long as you can.....we stayed a week which was not long enough.

Good things about accomodation:We loved this apartment. The kitchen was perfect for us. The balcony upstairs was amazing for morning tea and afternoon cervesas. Such a beautiful place and a perfect location in town.
Good bars and restaurants:Los Diamonates and Bodega Castaneda were two of our most favorite places that we went to more than once or twice. Also, the gelato is amazing!!! So much of Granada is below the apartment but we took a walk up the hill and found another sweet market area that was just delightful.

Good things about accomodation:The apartment was very clean and comfortable. We could not have had better hosts, or a better view of the stunning Alhambra!
Good bars and restaurants:Everywhere seemed nice and clean and there were plenty of reasonably priced places to eat without booking. There were more expensive places where booking is advisable. Can't think of any one place I'd particularly recommend.
Bad experiences in Granada:No! Everyone we met was helpful and we did not feel overcharged in any way, at any time.
Suggestions:I would recommend a visit to Granada as a must for anyone. It is beautiful, clean and has fascinating history with the Alhambra being a unique window onto that past (and a world heritage site). My main tip would be to stay where we stayed and get the tickets for the Alhambra sorted as soon as possible. It is not easy to negotite all the complex buying instructions and menu of options but it is well worth going for the full package. We were not part of an organised tour and got our tickets (online, well in advance) to start at the Nasrid Palace at 8.30 am (they are very strict about these entry times for Nasrid and you will not be allowed in if you go too far outside the time on your ticket). Our early start was great as it meant that we had the whole day (we were there for 7 hours) to explore all the rest of the site. The easier walk up to the Alhambra is from Nuevo square, but the prettiest walk (we left via this one at the end of the day) is the approach from the small bridge over the river at the side of the Alhambra nearest the 'Generalife' (summer house and market garden near the Alhambra). The Alhambra gardens are lovely (even in November!). There are two hotels on site but I do not know anything about them except that the body of Queen Isabelle, lay in one (it was a convent in those days) until her final resting place in the Cathedral (a short walk down the hill into Granada). As for food on your Alhambra visit: there are a couple for snack food outlets but no problem if you want to take your own food for picnics. Although we found it easy, some areas looked a little difficult for anyone with any mobility issues to negotiate. Cars and taxis can go up and we saw wedding parties arrive for weddings in the church. As for where to stay on your visit to Granada, I could not recommend Los Palermas more highly. If not that one in particular then I'd recommend looking the area of Albayzin district, on the hill opposite the Alhambra. It's nearest to Alhambra, with great views and, although touristy, with attractive 'moorish' nick nack shops off Alvira road, is an interesting 'olde world' area of narrow alleys and streets too small for our taxi to get through. Travel light and you'll be fine. Granada is cooler than nearby (2 hours by bus) Malaga but it is higher, over 200ft, and there was snow on the distant Sierra Nevada while we were there in early November. I'd advise warmer clothes than you might imagine for southern Spain in winter (although those tourist shops sell warm woolies if you get stuck!). The other surprise treat for us was an evening of Flamenco. We found one quite by chance in the Sacromente district (buildings built into caves apparently although it is not obvious from outside). For 20 euros each we were squashed into a long narrow 'cave' at the back of a restaurant where we got one drink and one hour of flamenco music and dancing. Several dancers of different ages and genders and great guitar music and singing to accompany the dramatic dancing. (There were photos of Bill Clinton and the King and Queen of Spain in ours). It was full of Spanish tourists too. I highly recommend Granada!

Good things about accomodation:This was wonderful accommodation and Granada is a magic place to stay for a week. It is central in the Albaycin, you can see the Alhambra from the bedroom and terrace; it is beautifully furnished and comfortable. It also has a refreshing pool, which we used after a long day walking around. The hosts were helpful and generous. I would recommend it to anyone.
Complaints about accomodation:The accommodation was excellent for our needs. It is a beautiful carmen. It is as good as advertised.
Good bars and restaurants:The big focus is on the Alhambra but in fact there are many other signs of the Nazrid civilisation just from walking around. The Arab baths near our apartment are worth it for the miracle of Arab engineering. We found Bar Fontana, also not far away, friendly and lovely small tapas (free with wine). Walking up and down the Albaycin is one of the great pleasures of life. Also behind the cathedral has many good places to eat. La Botanica near university gardens has good food and Sangria.
Suggestions:Granada is a big tourist town and it is wise to avoid the many little tourist shops selling the same things and be careful about the outdoor cafes because the quality of food can be poor. . There are a couple of recommendations from Trip Advisor for good ones and a beautiful Alhambra museum shop for quality stuff.

Complaints about accomodation:No complaints at all.. The place was great.
Good bars and restaurants:We did the segway tour which was lots of fun and a great way to see the city especially when its hot outside. We paid 40 Euro but I hear you cant get it for 35 if you book at last minute.
Bad experiences in Granada:No not all. Local were great.

Good things about accomodation:Our friendly hosts; the lovely balcony and terrace garden with glorious views of the Alhambra; the swimming pool where we cooled ourselves every evening.
Good bars and restaurants:The Alhambra is wonderful: arrive early and take a picnic lunch to eat in the beautiful Generalife. The Albaicin area is mysterious and beautiful: take the Dobla de Oro itinerary and visit ancient Nazarite residences and El Banuelo. The views of the city and the surrounding countryside, which are spectacular: see them at sunset on Mirador San Nicolas, when the flamenco buskers begin dancing... The open-air restaurants on Calle Chirimias next to the Rio Darro...
Bad experiences in Granada:None: Granada feels like a very friendly inclusive welcoming city.

The location was ideal for seeing all the best parts of the city. Ignacio was a charming host and couldn't have been more helpful. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer - unfortunately only 2 days.
Good bars and restaurants:For the best Flamenco experience don't miss the Chien Andalou a stone's throw away on the Carrera del Darro. On the same street the old Arab baths are worth a visit.

Good things about accomodation:My mother and I stayed in both apartments at Ignacio and Manuela's carmen. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Sleeping under the candelabra like Alhambra every night was such a dream and it was hard to pull ourselves away from the terrace. Both houses are very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for living in the city, cooking, laundry etc. It is also very centrally located for exploring the city, (Albaicin, Alhambra, Centro and hikes up the Rio Darro). Although I loved the upstairs bedroom of the Mejorana with the tall ceilings, large terrace and tons of natural light, my mother found the living spaces of the romero more comfortable since they were larger and on one level. I'd suggest the casa romero if you have a family or have mobility issues. The casa Mejorana is perfect for a romantic getaway or inspiring retreat. Best of all, Ignacio and Manuela the owners are the loveliest people and were extremely generous and helpful throughout our stay! Muchisimas Gracias!

Good things about accomodation:The apartment was even more beautiful than shown on the pictures: A mixture of elegance and cosiness, and the hospitality of the owners makes you feel at home. The views from the terrasse by day and night are just unforgettable - this alone would justify a visit. The apartment's location was perfect as well: Just some footsteps away from all places you might want to visit, and yet in a very quiet area. I am just waiting to come back to this magical place some day!
Complaints about accomodation:Not a single one - everything was just perfect.
Good bars and restaurants:The restaurant "Ruta del Azafran" at the "Paseo de los Tristes" offers excellent food combined with great views on the Alhambra. It is just a 5-10 minute walk away from the apartment. I also enjoyed great flamenco shows in "Le chien andalou" (Carrera del Darro) and in the "Casa del Arte Flamenco" (Cuesta de Gomerez) which are also near to the apartment.

Good things about accomodation:We loved staying at the Romero apartment of Casa Palmera. The apartment is lovely, very well cared for and very well equipped. There's a beautiful terrace overlooking the Alhambra, a balcony off the second floor bedroom and access to a pool. The location is great - everything is within easy access. There is no wifi but there is a cabled internet connection. We had only a very slow netbook and so Ignacio lent us a PC for our stay. He is a wonderful host. We would definitely stay here again and will highly recommend it to our friends.

Good things about accomodation:The Casa Palmera Romero was a delightful place to stay. Compared to the cramped hotel room in Madrid it was nice to have so much space, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and combined living-dining area. Our host met us as promised, with they keys and a loaf of artisam bread to welcome us. So we had toast and tea each morning. The kitchen had everything you could imagine needing, but we only used the micro and the wine opener because we were too busy sight seeing. We sat out in the garden patio one night enjoying a glass of wine and the beautiful view of the Alhambra. We watched the swallows flying as the sun went down and the lights came up on the fortress. This was much more relaxing than walking or taking the bus up to the Mirador at the church. I had the upstairs bed room and my "nightlight" was the fort lit by spotlights which I could see through the window, as the famous saying goes that was "priceless".
Good bars and restaurants:We took the olive tour, we had never even seen an olive tree before, so it was very interesting to see the trees and see the old olive oil press and do the taste tests of olive oils. We have a better appreciation of olive oil. The price was a little high if you are on a tight budget, but we thought it was worth it. We also did the combined ticket for the Alhambra (night and next day) It was an experience to go through the palace at night, almost spooky. Walking back to the casa at 11PM might have been spooky also, but the streets were well lit.
Bad experiences in Granada:Granada was not as tourist friendly as Segovia and Toledo. At those places there were information booths with a person handing out maps, at the Granada train station there is no information booth - not even a map on the wall! Shameful for a tourist destination. When we were leaving we chose to take a taxi from Plaza Nueva to the train station thinking (incorrectly) that it would be about 5 Euros. The taxi went all over the place, maybe it was one way streets, maybe we were ripped off? Maybe you can estimate on your website what the taxi cost to/from train to plaza Nueva?
Suggestions:Buy your Alhambra tickets on line before eaving and then read carefully about retreiving them (we did it at the bookstore in plaza nueva) We met 2 guys who had not planned ahead and their only option was a 3-day combination ticket from the information booth, very expensive since they were only going to be in Granada 2 days.

Good things about accomodation:The Romero apartment was excellent - the terraces enjoy much more sun than the photos on the website suggest, and the views of the Alhambra are spectacular. The location is superb, in the heart of the Albaicin yet wonderfully quiet, and Ignacio is a kind and very helpful host.
Good bars and restaurants:The Alhambra, of course, is amazing - so much so that we visited it twice, once early in the morning and once in the late evening. However, there is much else to see in Granada - I loved our many walks around the Albaicin and Realejo, and there are any number of historic buildings to visit.
Bad experiences in Granada:Arriving in a thunderstorm, and being soaked by torrential downpours of rain - waterproofs are definitely recommended. Ignacio kindly provided umbrellas at the apartment, and any number of street vendors will offer to sell you a 'para-agua' when the rain commences.
Suggestions:Buy a good guide, do your homework, and be prepared to walk - lots!

Good things about accomodation:Beautifully appointed, spacious, really comfortable, with great views; owners lived 2 min. away and were very helpful; to our surprise, there was some coffee, some milk, olive oil, a bit of butter, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, some cocoa...So we didn't have to buy a huge amt. to be able to eat there. It was fabulous as a kind of writer's retreat--we could go out for some hours then return and get some writing done. Location was great--allowed us to go out, return for awhile, go out again. It took us a little while to get the hang of how to adjust the heat, but once we did we were very comfortable.
Complaints about accomodation:No complaints. A dream of a place.
Good bars and restaurants:We loved walking up to Plaza Larga in the Albaicin; various bakeries and a grocery store proved the best place for us to buy groceries to bring back and make into our meals at La Palmera. Of course we loved the Alhambra, and walking to it along el Darro and the path (something de los Chinos).
Bad experiences in Granada:The only problem was the garbage strike, into its 11th or 12th day as we were there.
Suggestions:This place is perfect for people who like to walk a lot. For those who don't, it probably wouldn't be very suitable. I would absolutely not want to drive in the area near the rental, but then I go to Europe partly to escape car-culture and it would be silly to drive in the Albaicin unless one is handicapped (and in that case, staying elsewhere in Granada would make more sense).

Good bars and restaurants:Very good tapas bar off Fatima Square in the High Albaycin. Flamenca in a Sacromonte cave bar felt pretty authentic.
Bad experiences in Granada:Not at all, local people were friendly and welcoming. Only issue with over zealous shoe shine near the Alhambra.
Suggestions:Bus station provides good links for getting around the area if you do not want to drive - we did trips to the coast and the Sierra Nevada

Good things about accomodation:The apartment was just great. It was very tasteful and the terrace was the best, to have our breakfast and eveningmeal just below Alhambra. The owner was very nice and gently and gave us lot of information about Granda and the surroundings. It could not be better
Good bars and restaurants:There were many nice restaurants in Granada, particularly one seefood restaurant called Cunini and a tapas bar called Bodega Los Tintos.
Suggestions:As a non spanish speaking tourist we would appreciate if more information were written in english, for example in Alhambra. This is a problem which can be improved all over Spain, not only in Granada.

Good things about accomodation:The views of the Alhambra were spectacular. The interior of the property was traditional, well thought out, clean, tidy, comfortable & had everything we could ask for including a fantastic selection of art & architecture books relating to the area. The swimming pool was a dream and very welcome as the weather was hotter than we would have expected.
Bad experiences in Granada:The only bad experience we had was in the Tourist information office in Plaza Santa Ana.
Suggestions:Find out all the information you can online before leaving for Granada - or use the internet provided in the apartment.

Good things about accomodation:Casa Palmera (Romero) was one of the best rentals we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. It was beautiful and tastefully decorated but felt extremely comfortable, like a true home. It was private and quiet, and had the most wonderful view of the Alhambra. And Ignacio was the kindest and warmest host we have met. He had many suggestions, and, at the end of the visit, even drove my family and me to the train station. We could not have had a better week in Granada, and in large part, because of our lovely home.
Complaints about accomodation:Absolutely none. One of the best vacation rentals we have ever stayed at!

Good bars and restaurants:The walk up to the Alhambra was beautiful and the organised tour we had was very helpful in accessing all areas and explaining the history
Bad experiences in Granada:None except driving which is difficult if you are a tourist

Good things about accomodation:We loved every minute of our stay in Granada. The Casa Palmera was tranquil, beautiful, and well equipped. Ignacio was a very gracious host and made us feel welcome right away. I appreciated that the kitchen was so well stocked, as we made several meals there. We were very sorry to leave and hope to return soon with our entire family!
Good bars and restaurants:Of course, the Alhambra and Generalife were superb. We visited several times and enjoyed hiking up behind the Generalife (magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada). We really enjoyed the baths at the Hammam, as well as poking around the inviting streets of the Albaicin. We had a delicious lunch at El Trillo (Albaicin) and also a great meal at the outdoor restaurant just by the Generalife. The Capilla Real was another treat - we enjoyed seeing Ferdinand's crown and his clothes, as well as those of Isabella.
Suggestions:We had a delightful trip to Nerja after leaving Granada - this could be done as a day trip from Casa Palmera. We also wish we had done Cordoba as a day trip, rather than leaving the Casa Palmera.

Good things about accomodation:Everything was wonderful! I loved the view of the Alhambra, the outdoor table, and the apartment itself. There are some very nice pieces of furniture--especially the large wooden pieces in the bedroom and in the dining room.
Complaints about accomodation:It would be nice to have an electric kettle to boil water easily.
Suggestions:Granada is an amazing city. It's just what I like--narrow streets, cobblestones, beauty.

Good things about accomodation:The location was great, the appt was cosy and comfortable. Ignacio was very helpful with giving directions. We were lost arriving to Granada, Ignacio offered to go with us and my husband followed him back. If we go back to Granada, Casa Palmera would be our 1st choice.
Bad experiences in Granada:Do not rent a car, driving is very difficult

Good things about accomodation:I just like to share that Casa Palmera (casa Mejorana) is a wonderful place.Unfortunately we stayed only for three days, but we were enchanted. We were met by Ignacio who was really helpful, smiling and gave us an excellent warm feeling when he welcomed us. The house is really beautifully furnished, every detail was perfect, the view from the bedroom on the 2nd floor is amazing. I would wish to everybody to have the chance to contemplate this view of the lights of Alhambra (and the fullmoon above the fortress as we were lucky:) from the bedroom and the terrace. And this fairy tale feeling gets stronger with the perfume that comes from a flower-plant in the yard, named Galan de noche, as Ignacio explained to us. Overall the house is conveniently situated in the Albaicyn,we used the parking space because we were 3 people with a toddler and lots of luggage, so it was very convenient, as it is impossible to park your car in the Albaycin otherwise. I would strongly recommend this acommodation to everybody for a stay in Granada.

Good things about accomodation:Casa Palmera was a perfect spot for our family. Sitting on the terrace eating dinner, watching the evening fall over The Alhambra was unforgettable. Our hosts were warm and acommodating, the apartment comfortable and fresh, exceding our expectations.
Suggestions:Internet access was limited to "plug in" so our wireless devices didn't work. Upgrading to wiFi would be helpful. Our full size vehicle (we are travelling with 5 adults) had a few tight moments en route but the instructions on how to get to the apartment were among the best we've had.

Good things about accomodation:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable in the accommodation we rented. It felt like home, didn't want to leave. The gorgeous Spanish house in the Albaicyn was clean, spacious, fully fitted with everything we needed for the 5 days and had air conditioning if we needed it. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Good things about accomodation:The view from the accommodation was perfect, being a view of the Alhambra and having access to the pool was a great help in the heat of the day.
Complaints about accomodation:We have no complaints about the accommodation - it had everything we needed --- Perhaps an umbrella or some type of shade over the outdoor table would be good.
Good bars and restaurants:If one couldn't find a decent place to eat or drink in Granada then you wouldn't be able to find anything anywhere. One was spoiled for choice.
Bad experiences in Granada:The only complaint we had about Granada was dog pooh everywhere which is a bit of a problem in the Albacyn.
Suggestions:I think we have covered everything above. We would recommend the accommodation to our friends - we didn't want to leave.

Good things about accomodation:Our stay in Granada was excellent. The apartment was beautifully maintained and decorated. The location was perfect and the view incredible. Our hosts, Ignacio and Manuela, were very kind and helpful.
Complaints about accomodation:The second floor bedroom was spectacular...very light and airy with tall ceilings and an amazing view of the Alhambra. A double bed instead of two twins pushed together would be extra nice, but not that big a distraction.
Good bars and restaurants:Definitely try the bar, named Castenada I think, just down from the Pan y Chocolate. It almost looks like an antique store with lots of glass bottles in the windows. Inside, the atmosphere, food, and drink are delicious.

Complaints about accomodation:I have no complaints or suggestions for improvement, at all! The accomodations were perfect! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!
Good bars and restaurants:La Alhambra was a great experience! There is so much culture in Granada!
Bad experiences in Granada:The most "touristy" parts of town were more more expensive but overall it was a great experience.

Good things about accomodation:A few stairs to climb but once at the casa it was well worth it. There was a small welcome pack with fresh fruit, tea, coffee, milk butter etc. and a couple of beers, which went down rather quickly after the short walk up the stairs to the house. It is a great location in the Moorish quarters for exploring the rest of Granada on foot. The views of the Alhambra are breathtaking from the balcony and terrace of the house. The pool looked inviting although it was too cold to take a dip. The house had plenty of heating so on a cold day we were able to keep warm.
Complaints about accomodation:No, the accommodation was excellent
Good bars and restaurants:There were many interesting tapas bars on Calle Navas, which was just a short walk from our accommodation.
Bad experiences in Granada:Had read a lot about the gypsies at the Cathedral but did not have any problems with them, I simply said no when they offered me some "lucky heather". They did approach some tourist but quickly move on when they cannot read your palm.

Good bars and restaurants:Bar Los Tintos near Duende and Calle Darro Bar Oliver and Bar Cunini near plaza Bib Rambla Le Chien for for Flamenco and good tapas (fabada asturiana)
