to/from
Granada, Spain.

Intro: This page gives information about low-cost, direct flights to and from Granada and all the information you need about getting between the airport and to Granada. There is also information about cheap flights to Malaga.

Flights to GRANADA airport:

Ryanair has now pulled out of Granada. After several years Ryanair has stopped flying to Granada because the local council refused to continue subsidising it. To not continue is probably an economic mistake because of the amount of money that was being brought into the city but you can understand them not wanting to be bullied by Ryanair. Every single flight into Granada was full so why did they pull out?

I had a quick look at the Iberia website and you can come from London via Madrid to Granada. The cheapest price I could find was 105 euros each way. Go to the IBERIA website. (Note: You can easilly get a flight to Malaga for around 10 euros so it's probably better to come via Malaga)

The company vueling have many discount flights within Spain and on 26th June 2010 they will open a route to Granada from Paris. A romantic few days in Paris and then Granada?????

For more information see the Vueling Website. There seem to be cheap flights from several Spanish cities to the UK.

Granada airport info:
The airport is located about 17 km outside the city of Granada. The airport code is GRX. It takes about 40 minutes by road from the center of Granada. See more info

Airport bus:
There is a frequest airport bus service, the buses know when the arrival times are and adapt the timetable to the arrivals The price is around 4 euros per person. All of the buses at some point go down Gran Via de Colón then Reyes Catolicos in the centre of Granada. Click here to see a map Click here to see bus stops and bus times

Taxi:
Iif you don't want to walk through the streets with your luggage you can get a taxi which costs approx 29 euros. There is supposedly a fixed taxi fare for taxis from the airport to the city centre (28 euros for the centre of Granada, and 30 euros for the Albaicín) so it's a good idea to ask how much it will cost before getting in the taxi. The taxi driver should not use the taximeter. This page has more advice about getting taxis.

Internal flights within Spain:
Cheap airlines such as vueling have driven the prices down so there are now many bargain flights to other Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Madrid. A good site to search for them is terminala.com

(Tip: When there is a flight from outside Spain with a connecting flight from Madrid/Barcelona to Granada they invariably don't coordinate the luggage properly and it has to be delivered to you the next day. So put some extra underwear and essentials in your hand luggage.)

Flights to MALAGA airport:
Malaga airport is 125km from Granada. It takes 1hour 30 minutes from Malaga to Granada by car. The best way to get to Granada by public transport is to catch a bus from the 'estación de autobuses' in the centre of Malaga. There are frequent buses which connect the airport with the bus station. There are buses every hour until 22.00 and the bus journey takes 2 hours. It is difficult to get to Granada by bus if you arrive after 10pm. A taxi from Malaga to Granada costs approx 140 euros.
